Old Business A. Hospitality — Joan Vallier is setting up and
scheduling of this program.
Currently Judy and Paul Sved are doing a welcome for all new members of
the Parrish. They give out a
church directory and information regarding our parish. B. Funeral Lead — The Soczeks were contacted and they would like to help with this project but are not interested in taking the lead. Rosemary Irwin and Eileen Evers were contacted and have both agreed to will help this project. Marty Davis and Mary Kaye Ruegg will get together regarding this project and will report back. C. Cake Walk — The dates the students will be registering for religious classes were discussed and it was determined that a cake walk at that time would not work. Denise will be contacting the school about possibly doing this during a home basketball game as a fundraiser. D. First Sunday Coffee — The Jersins were contacted by Sara Hill, and they are willing to continue doing this. Sara will also help with this project. E. Religious Items — This is after the first Sunday Mass during Coffee. Mary Kaye Ruegg has contacted several people who may be interested in doing this, but no one has come back with a firm yes. She will wait a few more days and then contact some other people. F. BC Pizza — This item was tabled until the next meeting, when Andrea is able to attend. G. Lion’s Dinner — There are four dinners altogether, two in January and two in February. Everyone agreed that these were good fundraisers. Eileen Evers agreed to help with these, and Mary Kaye will be checking with the Ramsays to see if they would like to chair this project. H. Chili Supper — The date for this was set as November 1, 2008 after the 5:00 Mass. It was suggested that the men of the parish be contacted to see if they would like to help with the cooking. It is going to be some type of competition with a prize for the best chili. The menu was agreed upon as chili, condiments, homemade bread, desert, coffee, milk, and water. The price was set as $6 a person and $20 a family. I. Christmas Bazaar — The date was set as November 21, four to eight, and November 22, nine to four. They will have twelve 10x10 booths. Anyone wanting a booth should contact Susan Massaway or Andrea Tamlyn. They are planning to have the youth selling food, a bake sale, and a 50/50 drawing. Susan Massaway will be checking with Bucky to see about purchasing wreaths for sale at a bulk price. Susan will be putting an ad in the Woman’s perspective paper regarding the project. J. Bulletin Information — We will be putting the phone numbers of committee chairs in the bulletin and asking if anyone is interested in serving on the committee to contact the chair of that committee or one of the board members. We have 276 woman in our parish. The list has been divided into groups of 25. This list will be given to the committee that will be doing the calling. The minutes of the meetings will be emailed to the McClelland’s to put on our parish web page. New Business A. Formal Dinner — It was suggested that we pick a project that will benefit from this fundraiser. Valentine’s Day was suggested as a possible date. St. Patrick’s day dinner was also suggested. Eleanor Fitzpatrick will contact Ruth Orlich to see if she would like to chair this project and possibly train someone else to help her, and maybe take on the project when Ruth no longer wants to be the chair. B. Garage Sale — St. Anthony’s Parish in Mackinac City just did one on August 5, 2008. Susan Massaway will be checking to see how successful this project was and get any pointers or tips on how to make it successful. We would like to possibly do something like this next summer. C. Raffle Tickets — Father Landerville suggested we do this because he had something similar to it in Ironwood and it was very successful. What they did was sell 100 tickets for $100 each. The proceeds were used as the prize money. Susan Massaway has all of the necessary paperwork to file with the State for permission to have this type of raffle. We would like to do this from Memorial Day to Labor Day next summer. D. Other — Christmas decorating was discussed. Judy Sved currently serves as the chair of this committee. She would like to have at lease ten people she can count on for this project. We will be using the callers and the list mentioned above for this project. Weber’s floral donates several wreaths, and Judy will be checking with Bucky, the fire marshal, for further assistance regarding fire safety. The other item discussed was the fact that we would like to have a bread/cinnamon roll bake sale twice a year in place of the 1st Sunday bake sales. Our next project is the Chili Cook off on November 1st after Saturday Evening Mass. Mary Kaye Ruegg closed with a prayer, including the Our Father. Next meeting Second Saturday, September 13, 2008 after 5pm Mass. |
