St. Anne’s Altar
Society Minutes September 13, 2008 Present: Kelly Moran, Betty Matelski, Evelyn Corp, Gloria Davenport, Marty Davis, Linda Grogan, Joan Law, Rosemary Matelski, Andrea Tamlyn, Mary Kaye Ruegg, Sara Hill, Susan Massaway, and Denise Binger The meeting was called to Order by Mary Kaye Ruegg. Opening Prayer was given by Denise Binger. A sign in sheet was passed around. Sara Hill gave the Treasurer’s Report. As of 9/13/2008, we have $1711.93 in the checking and $3,201.71 in the savings. Last month’s minutes were passed around for everyone to review. Old Business A. Hospitality — Joan Vallier would like to have
someone take over this function.
Judi Sved may take over, but we are not going to look into this program
until the spring when the tourist season starts again. B. Funeral Lead — They had a meeting and it was determined that they may need possible help. Three women from the Moran Parrish have volunteered their time and talents. Mary Anne provided other possible names for recruits. They will be meeting again in October to discuss any other possible changes. Bruce Dodson has agreed to contact Sandy Thorin whenever a family would like to have a meal as soon as he is made aware of the need. C. Cake Walk — No firm date as of yet. D. Religious
Items — This is after the first Sunday Mass during Coffee. Arletta Pope will be taking over this
project and will be working with Mrs. LaJoice during this transition. E. BC Pizza — Andrea contacted them, and we are still waiting for further information. F. Lion’s Dinner — There are four dinners altogether, two in January and two in February. The Ramsay’s have agreed to do the two in January, and we are still looking for someone to do the February ones, possibly Mrs. Evers. G. Chili Supper — The date for this was set as November 1, 2008, after the 5:00 mass. They have recruited a few people to make pots of chili but are still looking for more volunteers. They are looking for supplies for the dinner as well as volunteers to make deserts and bread. It was agreed to open this up to the public, and they are looking for someone to do the publicity. We need to agree where the money from this fundraiser will go. H. Christmas Bazaar — They have a couple of booths already lined up. Arletta will be setting up the religious items booth. Bucky has agreed to donate 5 or 6 wreaths to the raffle. I. Bulletin Information — We will be putting the contact names in the bulletins. J. St. Patrick’s dinner — This was tabled, as Mrs. Fitzpatrick was not able to attend the meeting. K. Garage Sale — Susan Massaway reported that St. Anne’s in Mackinaw City made over $4,000 at their sale this past summer. They had it in indoors; no clothing; and all of the items were separated into like categories. They also sold coffee and baked goods. It was agreed that if we do this next summer that all of the items leftover would go to the Hope Chest and that a percentage of the profit would also go to the Hope Chest. They boxed up some items and kept them for the next year’s sale, and we may want to do that with some items. L. Raffle
Tickets — Still on the table.
We would like to have the proceeds go to the kitchen remodel
project. The printing of the
tickets was donated, and they did sell to out-of-town visitors. New Business A. The minutes are on the parish website. Mary Kaye unearthed several boxes of old minutes that are proving to be interesting. B. Membership dues — It was discussed to raise the dues. We currently have 101 paid members, and the dues are $5. We did have bake sales all summer this year, and are planning several new fundraisers. It was voted to keep the dues as they are for now. C. Other — Father would like us to do the Lenten soup and sandwiches. The soup lunches would be the six Fridays during lent. He would also like to encourage eucharistic adoration on the 1st Friday of the month. He informed us that this is a growing trend, and he would like to see perpetual adoration at some time in the future. We also need to brainstorm about ideas as to who would be able to help us make large quantities of bread for a possible bake sale. Our next project is the Chili Cook off on November 1st after Saturday Evening Mass. Father Mott closed with a prayer. Next meeting: Second Saturday, October 11, 2008 after 5pm mass. |
