St. Anne’s Altar Society Minutes

October 11, 2008

Present:  Mary Kaye, Andrea, Sara, Susan, Kelly, Virginia, Rosemary, Linda G., Mrs. Pelon, Mary Anne, Betty M. Constance, Joan Law, and Joan V.

Mary Kaye called the meeting to order with prayer at 6:10 p.m.

Sara gave the treasurer’s report:  $911.00 in checking, $2,707.62 in savings.

• Monies were put down on the ornament order.
• Arletta Pope is selling the religious items.
• Bake Sales are still bringing in around $175.00 per month.

Mary Kaye handed out a couple of the phone call lists.

There will be no Bake Sale in November due to the Chili Dinner, unless we have baked goods left over from the dinner the night before.

Chili Dinner proceeds will go toward the kitchen renovation.

• Talk to the youth to see if they can help serve, etc.
• There will be a Chili Dinner meeting at Betty Matelski’s, Oct. 15, 6:00 p.m.

Susan discussed the Christmas Tree Ornaments and Sun Catchers that have been ordered as a fund-raiser for the Altar Society.  It is a big expense at first, but if all are sold the Altar Society will double their money.  It will be a great memento for tourists as well.

Andrea gave a report on the Christmas Gathering of Gifts sale.  All is going well.  Susan, Andrea, and Lori will meet next week to do some more finalizing.

It was discussed about getting more in attendance at Eucharistic Adoration on First Fridays: share the information with KC’s and the PAC at Immaculate Conception.

It was agreed that the Altar Society will take care of the soup dinners during Lent.

Mary Kaye handed out the by-laws and would like everyone to review them.  Bring any suggested changes to the next meeting.  Include a provision about how much the Board can expense without the whole organization’s vote.

Meeting time was discussed: maybe on a week night we would get more in attendance.  It was voted to have the next meeting on Wednesday, Nov 12, at 7:00 p.m.

The Altar Society would like to have:

1. A Woman’s Day of Prayer.
2. Scholarship for Bible study.
3. Tea for grandmothers, mothers, daughters, nieces, etc.
4. Christmas Gathering.  (Could the two parishes do this together?)

Bring a friend to the next Altar Society Meeting.
